I want to encourage you to wake up before the sun rises at least once a week. Get outside, find a nice quiet spot, and watch the day begin. It’s tough, waking up at 4:30 in the morning, but it’s almost always worth it.
After catching the sunrise at the Manassas National Battlefield this past week, I was driving down Lee Highway heading home when I noticed a white sign off in the distance in one of the fields. Why would they have a big white sign in the middle of the battlefield? What could it say? Intrigued, I pulled over on the side of the road and hiked back to it.
Turns out it’s a sign for catch and release fishing, set right in front of a small pond. I had no idea the battlefield had a pond, but this is definitely my new favorite place to watch the sunset. Listening to the frogs croak and insects chirp while turtles poke their heads up out of the water is incredibly peaceful.
Get out there and find something new today.
You are not only a gifted photographer, but an incredible writer. I enjoy your posts.
